Jane Boardman is a communications strategist and PR entrepreneur with particular expertise in brands and brand building. Jane is a Strategic Comms Consultant and Founding Chair British Beauty Council of which The Fragrance Foundation UK is an affiliate member. 

Jane lives in South West London with her writer husband Stephen, and her Irish terrier Murphy. 

Why are you involved with The Fragrance Foundation UK?

The fragrance industry is crucially important to the UK - economically & creatively and it provides much pleasure to millions of people. The Fragrance Foundation, under the tremendous leadership of Linda, Annalise and Roja, is committed to driving the sector forward and has a great vision for its continuing growth and development as a sector. I am proud to be part of this vision.

Why do you love Fragrance?

Fragrance is so emotional, powerful and uplifting. Our sense of smell is  a magical and mysterious gift and fragrance helps us use and appreciate that gift every day and in many ways.

What is your Scent Memory?

I grew up the daughter of a pharmacist – my father owned shops throughout my early childhood so fragrance was in my blood from the very beginning.  My mother ran the shops and did the buying and loved fragrance.  Her personal favourite was Youth Dew by Estee Lauder and every Christmas my father would treat her to something from the range – she loved the body lotion and cream, the body powder, the soap and so on – you could say she was an early adopter of what we now call layering.  The smell of that divine fragrance filled the house and even now reminds me of Christmas … and of my childhood – the close-knit and loving family I was so lucky to be part of and of course, of glamour & beautiful things.
